I have lost a screw for the refrigerator door. Electrolux charges 70 kr including shipping for a new one. Can the attached image help identify what type of screw I need (dimensions) so I can buy it elsewhere? I'm not very knowledgeable in the world of screws unfortunately.

The only info provided by Electrolux is "Chrome-plated screw for refrigerator"

  • Chrome-plated screw for refrigerator door, showing detailed threading and rounded head, against white background.
  • Chrome-plated screw for refrigerator door with a Phillips head, used to replace a missing part in an Electrolux fridge.
Isn't there a screw of the same dimension on the cabinet that you can unscrew and take as a comparison object to a store?

The screw doesn't look special in any way.

Unfortunately, there is only one such screw on the entire refrigerator. I have checked. And the freezer has a different closing mechanism, so there isn't any such screw there. I agree that the screw looks very ordinary. It looks like the threads are quite far apart, and I count that there are 6 "turns" of threads. I believe the hole where the screw should go is 4.0 mm or smaller.

Measure the screw dimension (length x width) and visit a hardware store or a smaller model car workshop and you will surely find a suitable screw.

It's probably a screw that holds well in plastic. You can likely use a regular sheet metal screw of an appropriate size instead.

But I don't have a screw to measure. My thought was that it might be possible to see in the picture - but I understand now that it's difficult.

Can't you even estimate the size of the screw from the hole and the place where it was located?
Look around the cabinet, there might be the same type of screw on the back of the cabinet.

Otherwise, I guess it's 10-20 mm long and 4-5 mm wide.

Even though you might think it's expensive to pay 70kr for a screw, you should consider that you receive it in your mailbox and it fits without any issues. If you want to hunt for something similar, you also need to spend time on it, perhaps buy a few different ones, and maybe pay 20-40kr. Before it's all done, you might end up spending 70kr anyway if you don't have walking distance to something.

Go to the recycling center and check, they have a huge stock of old cabinets. There you can find the right one..
