Have removed old boards covering the original panel in the house. The lower part of the panel has some sort of roofing felt-like material on it. What is this and what would happen if I removed it? One thought was that it might be an old-fashioned moisture barrier since there was a utility area with a sink here.

  • Wooden wall panel with removed top section revealing black tar paper-like material, possibly an old moisture barrier. Visible pipes protruding.
If it is thin, it is a type of förhydringspapp used as a wind barrier.

But why would you have it only on the first 80cm of a wall, it wasn't on the other outer wall and only the first 70-80cm 🤔

Could also have been a moisture barrier. Papp was used for many things.
