My compost grinder from Biltema stopped with a branch inside that I can't get out. It looks like there is a cleaning hatch but it is closed with strange screws. Can anyone help me identify it? The one that looks like a torx also has a pin in the middle. Close-up of two screws on a black panel of a garden shredder, one resembling a security Torx with a pin in the center.

We had something similar on a window, where you were supposed to use a 4-sided bit.

Biltema has sets with them. One is called triwing or something and torx with a pin are regular torx that are a bit "theft-protected" or however one might describe them. There are bits with a hole for the pin.

I have a bit set with 109 parts. I don't think it cost more than a hundred kronor at Jula/Biltema/wherever. Apparently, you need at least that many because there's always something that messes with you when things need to be opened or tightened, whether it's by using 5/64-inch on an Allen key, putting a pin in the Torx, or having three slots in a star formation.

Yes, that is indeed a bit of an arms race. New security screws come out, and shortly thereafter, there are bit sets that contain the corresponding bit. It bothers me a little that manufacturers keep insisting on this. If someone wants to get in, they will. The only way to somewhat prevent it is to glue everything together. That has other disadvantages for, for example, the aforementioned compost grinder.

As previously mentioned, it is partly a Torx TR, and partly a Tripoint in the picture.

I also have a set to get into most things, really just on principle. However, I have used it once to open a pump, why it would have security screws, I don't know.

This with Torx TR was news to me just a few weeks ago. But to my delight, I discovered that I also had such bits in my bits set. There was regular Torx on one end and Torx TR on the other end of the screwdrivers.
