What to think of this.. Attack?
thestrut, did your dry rot infestations look like both the checkered pattern (picture 2) and the white (picture three)?
RoBo, sure, I can take a picture of where they’ve repaired, but I have no idea what it looks like on the underside... Is it already screwed in place? Should I ask them to unscrew the pieces again to examine it more closely, alternatively replace or treat the wood pieces, and then put them back?
If the pieces are from the plank you see in the pictures, then it's not an ideal situation, if I understood the comments correctly... I’m thinking that even if the wood is dry now, there might be dry spores falling into interjoist areas, which then could "ignite" if I get bad moisture levels, for example, in the crawl space... Or am I thinking wrong?

Extremely interesting article actually. What is written here sounds much more reasonable than anything else I've read about dry rot.-JC- said:When it comes to dry rot, there are many myths and misconceptions. The hysteria is great and fueled by several actors with commercial interests, perhaps primarily Anticimex. An anxious person is always easier to profit from.
The following reading about dry rot may be interesting where the difference in attitude is obvious: [link]
partly it looks like that...Stina71 said:thestrut, did your dry rot infestation look like both the checkered pattern (picture 2) and the white (picture three)?
RoBo, I can certainly take a picture of where they've repaired, but I have no idea what it looks like on the underside.. Is it already screwed down? Should I ask them to unscrew the pieces again to examine the whole thing more closely, alternatively replace or treat the wood pieces, and then put them back?
If the pieces come from the plank you see in the pictures, it's not a very good situation, if I understood the comments correctly... I'm thinking that even if the wood is dry now there might be "falling down" dry spores in the floor joists, etc., which could then risk "taking off" if I get bad moisture levels, for example, in the crawl space.. Or am I thinking incorrectly?
