Hello
I am going to install district heating to my house, which was built in 1975. Houses from the 70s are well-known for having moisture problems due to "slab on grade."
"Already in the 60s, houses began being built with a 'slab on grade,' and in the 70s, it became the standard. Since these slabs lacked insulation against the ground, moisture problems have been more the rule than the exception in houses from this era. There was also experimentation with new building materials, such as plastics, self-leveling compound, and pressure-treated wood, which later proved to be toxic"
I have now broken through 10 cm of concrete in places where the pipes will go through to the radiators. Now I need to lay new concrete to cover the pipes and the 10 cm I have dug. What I am wondering is what is the best material to use to prevent moisture problems in the ground as much as possible. I've bought concrete and intended to use gravel. Is that right or good? If not, what should I use?
