I have a garage with lecablock walls. The garage was built around the 1960s, I would guess. I would now like to smooth the walls and insulate a bit. I plan to frame the walls with wooden battens and screw and glue these battens to the lecablock wall. Then buy 3 cm polystyrene and glue this to the lecablock wall between the battens. Then OSB board and screw it onto these battens and then renovation plasterboard on top of that. What do you think? How does it go with moisture? Grateful for
I would not use foam plastic due to the fire risk and that it is tedious to install. Regarding moisture, it is better to have the insulation on the outside, but that might not be possible in your case?
I think the battens risk becoming damp and possibly rotting over time.
Suggest that you plaster the interior and insulate and fix a suitable exterior facade if you are going to have the garage heated.
