Hello,

I'm planning to install a glulam beam (115x115) composed of three lamellas as an upper "beam" on a small pergola that I am working on.

Should the lamellas be vertical or horizontal to ensure that it is as strong and straight as possible?

Best regards, Per

The normal is probably horizontal.

But I think the difference isn't so big that it makes an impact.

Shearing of the adhesive layer is always fun to think about.

I believe it doesn't matter. In the Träguiden, the same buckling load is specified in both the y and z directions for 115x115 glulam columns. When manufacturing a glulam beam yourself, it is often easier to glue the parts standing.
