Hello,

I'm trying to determine if repairing an interior wall is something I should undertake myself. I have plenty of enthusiasm and a lack of knowledge...

Situation:
  • Interior wall in the bedroom, the plaster has come off in a corner, all the way to the brick.
  • The wall is made of some kind of stone, I think it's a type of hollow stone or something like that. The properties don't seem to match straight-up brick when I've drilled into it...
  • Area is about half a square meter
  • I've never repaired anything like this before. I've only filled a few small holes with house fix

What should I repair with?

How should I proceed?

How did this happen? Well, an old ugly wall trim was glued so tightly that when I tried to cut and pry it off, the plaster started to come off... and once it started cracking, it was too late. FML.

  • Damaged plaster on an interior bedroom wall near a radiator and electrical outlet, revealing underlying brick or stone material.
  • Damaged interior bedroom wall with plaster removed, exposing brick or hollow stone beneath. White cables and a junction box are visible on the floor.
Have I posted in the wrong subforum? Or is the question poorly formulated, or too easy? I don't think I can find any similar cases even though it should be very simple. Maybe I've searched with the wrong terms.

Search for plaster putty. It is the easiest for a beginner to fix plaster with.

Ok, thank you! :)

Got advice elsewhere that plaster and then some filler would suffice.

As above, use gypsum plaster, much easier!

Thanks for the advice and tips! (y) I'll return with the result ...
