I have bought some countertops from IKEA. They come packaged with protective boards that resemble masonite but are glossy on both sides. They are about 3 mm thick.

These boards are exactly what I would need in other contexts, but I don't know what they are called or who sells them. IKEA had no idea.

Does anyone know?

Could it be MDF?

Boardskiva or fiberboard 3mm

  • Close-up of a 3mm board made from wood fibers, also known as fiberboard. The image shows a corner of the board with a light brown surface.
The board is rarely blank on both sides.

No, it feels more like masonite, both in texture and weight. MDF also seems a bit too expensive to use as packaging material.

You're describing exactly the product we got from ceos. It was supposed to be 4 mm hdf but was closer to 3 mm, brown and super shiny.

There is masonite (board) that is shiny on both sides, I also receive it as packaging from Germany.
