Builders' hardware is often called BMF. Is this a quality mark or a standard?

When I look at angle brackets and mending plates at, for example, Biltema, I don't find this marking. We have received drawings from a designer for the trusses we are building where the fittings are called BMF, so I wonder if the fittings must be marked with this to have the correct strength.

BMF is a manufacturer. It is quite common for designers to specify a certain type of BMF fittings. In your case, as I understand it, it's about regular nailing plates, so any brand with the same size and thickness will work.

One reason why designers often specify BMF fittings is that they have a good manual. The same applies to Hilti, which has an excellent expansion manual and also good programs for calculating fastenings.

Thank you so much.

Hehe, now five years later I google "Vad innebär BMF" and this thread comes up as the third search result. The memory is good but short..
