Weld your own staircase from an H-beam?
I would like to do it myself, seems fun, but seems tricky, welding requires a welder, and the right welder, I don't even know what electricity I have in the basement. If I drill/screw the steps, it will take a long time, I'm quite convinced, if it becomes laminboard, it makes it much easier, but it's important to find the right measurements for the laminboard, I have to look around a bit to see what seems to be the best solution for me.Mäster said:

there can hardly be that much load on a staircase. would guess that 15*25cm is more than enough.
probably cheaper than steel as well...

will probably self-build, but considering using beams from an old barn or house with some form of wrought iron bolted on and stair treads of oak....

Hello! If you want a stair railing, can you easily drill it into the wooden+steel step? Thanks.blackadder said:
the plates can be almost as large as the finished step, so it doesn't need to bear as much.
At the bottom, I cut the beam at an angle and placed a plate with a hole in it for fastening to the floor, and at the top, I angled the beam so it lay horizontally against the wall and then a plate with a hole in it for fastening to the wall.
