I'm building a guest cabin, similar to a "hermit's hut," and I'm wondering how to solve the wall construction. The hut lacks cover strips. Is it possible to use roofing felt under the facade to protect against moisture, and if so, which type would be most suitable (read: cheapest  ;) )? Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance and happy Easter

  • A small rustic guest cabin with wooden exterior and two windows, lacking decorative trim. The cabin has a sloped roof and a simple chimney.
So it is not a tongue and groove paneling then? Traditional houses only had tar paper and then paneling.

Yes, it would have been easiest with tongue-and-groove. But I was thinking of buying second-hand wood at the reuse center to get the right feel for the shed. I don't think I'm lucky enough that they have enough tongue-and-groove paneling.

OK. Tar paper behind then? Maybe an air gap so it dries up.
