I want to tidy up around a basement window that is below ground level, see attached image. I'm thinking of a stone wall on each side and the ground sloping down from the front, which it does today as well.

My question is how to build this wall in the simplest way. It should be about 60 centimeters high and will be loaded from one side.

I have thought of using these blocks:

Of course, I can do this by the book and cast/glue, etc. But you don't want to do anything unnecessarily. Does anyone have experience with this?

  • Small basement window under ground level surrounded by bricks and grass, with space for a planned wall installation.
Doesn't seem to be a very exposed position? Why not just clear weeds, lay fabric and gravel in front, and reset with the stones you already have? It would be different if you were using new stones for a larger area and wanted to integrate the basement window part nicely.
