Hello,
Halfway through an installation of ventilation (100mm), I started to doubt whether this affects the house's construction/structural integrity.

What I initially thought was a stud for the panel, I am now wondering if it is the roof's subframe and if the hole can weaken the house's construction.

Attached is an image, nails are marked in red, the position of the hole in blue.

Grateful for advice on how to proceed.

  • Exterior of a wooden house with a marked blue spot for a new ventilation hole and surrounding red spots indicating nails. Concern about structural impact.
  • Living room with large window and door, white curtains, potted plants on windowsill, and a garden view. Ceiling vent location is under discussion.
Not if the hole is visible from the inside. However, there might be an avväxlingsbalk at the location where you have drilled. It is normally not needed because it is a gavel, but you can't be completely sure without having seen what it looks like in the attic. No studs like 100 mm holes.
