Using wooden studs and metal tracks

I'm moving an interior wall and have a question about the steel tracks for steel studs: Do regular wood studs fit in the floor/ceiling track? The reason for the question is that it's easier to set the steel tracks straight, while the wood studs can be cut faster with the miter saw.
