Underfloor heating pipe frozen in the slab
Yes, it's a problem. But otherwise, I would have had to sit idly by and let the pipes freeze and burst... Not so fun.RoBo said:
I also hope that the loop that froze survived. I think I've read that they can sometimes survive even if they've frozen.

Then it was like this: I wrote on Monday and complained to the company that they hadn't emptied the pipes of water and that it had frozen in the loop.
They replied that it couldn't have frozen due to the reasons I mentioned in the posts above.
So now I want a third party to tell them that they're out to lunch.

Contact the company and describe the incident and explain that you have helped them as the situation could have worsened if the ice had remained. Request a new pressure test and the result from it will indicate if further measures are needed.

I talked to a concrete station today, and they said that it's only the first few days that a concrete slab generates any heat worth mentioning.
They said that if it was -5 on Sunday, then the slab was also -5.
I have informed the construction company of this information, we'll see what they respond. It gets pretty tiresome; how can they be so uneducated and ignorant? They probably think the Earth is flat too...
The unfortunate thing is that they made mistakes on a couple more things, for example, they filled deep pits in the foundation with clay - clay as a bearing layer - brilliant!!

Does the contractor mean that the floor heating manifold that is ABOVE the concrete won't freeze either? Why even let water into the system in the first place?
No distributors etc. are connected. Just hose in the slab that goes into the basement. Will be connected later.Nefcairion said:
He had water in them for pressure testing and left the water during casting. Apparently, it's suitable to have water in them during casting.
