I made my own stair renovation kit recently. Now, after a few months, a glue joint has slightly opened up (1-1.5 mm). Is there a trick to tidy up the glue line afterward? The material is oak. I remember learning in crafting class that glue and sawdust can be used; does it work to push glue into the joint and then sand so that the sanding dust sticks to the glue? Since the boards are glued down to the stairs, I want to avoid having to replace this stair tread...

There are ready-made kits available to fill such cracks. Google parquet kits or similar.
