Hi, my friend would like to continue studying in order to later be able to use a total station. Does anyone know what one needs to study, as well as what the process looks like, does the education have a name?

Measurement Technician or Measurement Engineer. There are two-year vocational courses available, for instance at Kartotek. (www.kartotek.se)

Hello, so you have to study for one of these to be qualified to use a total station.

Well, no qualification is required - it's not like a driver's license or electrical certification - you could probably learn an instrument entirely on your own if you just want to buy a used total station and play around with it.

But if you want a JOB in the industry, the employer will certainly choose people with education first.
