Mounted wall cabinet on the wall, with 10 fastening points distributed over 2.6m. It's drywall with OSB behind, and I noticed that when I screwed in the last bit, some screws spun, while others gripped. Anyway, when I measure and calculate, I realize that the 35mm between the screw head and the threads are exactly as many mm as the wall material is thick (drywall + OSB) and the 10mm that the cabinet is from the wall.

I took a chance on these screws when, after a long wait, I finally got around to it, went to the store where they had these 65mm and 25mm flat head options.

Should I switch to shorter screws, or will it hold firmly anyway??

If the threads don't have a hold on anything, it won't stay fastened. Maybe you hit a stud when it held well? I would definitely replace the screw to ensure 100% that the screw is properly secured.

If you use the same screw hole and a shorter screw, you also need to go up a size on the screw. Alternatively, use the same length but a fully threaded screw.

What a junk screw you found. I assume it's meant for the American market (matches their dimensions for 2" timber quite well). If you're going to put any sort of load on that, you'll unfortunately need to replace the screw. Find one that's 35-45 mm instead. And as mentioned above, either you need to go up in size or put in new holes.

Looks like regular installation screws.

Thanks for the response, I had a feeling it wouldn't be that good... I've ordered 8x40 wood screws now, hope they hold better :) Existing screws are 6x65mm.

It will probably be great (y)
