In a garage, råspont would be cheap, good, and practical, right? (I also don't like the look of plywood or OSB.)

Almost as cheap is slätspont, which should look nicer than the rough surface.

You are talking about the wrong post.

Wood paneling, can you imagine rough-sawn tongue and groove with the unplaned side out, and then paint. I think that's damn stylish.
