Garage construction simple with a shed roof and cathedral ceiling. It's part of a fairly modern built house with a fairly modern appearance. Now it's time to clad the interior walls and I'm having difficulty deciding what to choose. Using wood paneling is appealing for the durability and ease of hanging lighter items, plus avoiding plastering a lot of drywall which is still sensitive. I'm having trouble choosing which type of panel though, tongue and groove, flat groove, various gaps here and there. There seems to be some confusion even among those selling lumber. Flat groove apparently means the board is planed smooth, but end groove is that the end is "grooved," but groove is supposed to be a type of board? Or is groove also synonymous with tongue and groove?
In any case, I want to achieve a nice result and avoid a cabin or sauna feel, and I'm having a bit of difficulty deciding what wood paneling to choose. Do you have any tips? Or do you have any completely different ideas for wall cladding? I was considering MDF in wood imitation but it doesn't even seem to be cheaper, so I've almost ruled that out entirely.
I placed OSB+6mm renovation plasterboard in the garage I just partially renovated. Painted directly on the plasterboards. But I had quite low demands on the finish and painted plasterboard on top of a wooden wall is what's been there before.

Stylish, strong, with and without finish and without spackling. A difficult equation, here is my suggestion:
Vertical OSB. Horizontal drywall 900mm, painted with washable paint. Board over seams and center screw line. Board can have a beveled top edge so that a "French cleat" type hanging can be used.
I'm positive about wood paneling, didn't think that tips about regular saw wood or raw plank would suit someone considering using MDF
Of course, I don't mean raw plank or regular saw wood, but smooth tongue-and-groove and similar intended for interior wall use. Would love to have tips on what paneling to choose to make it look quite modern and stylish and not like a sauna.
Ceiling panel then? Like Moelven Regina in 60*120cm format? Probably can't hang anything on it though.
Or why not parquet flooring, so you get lots of colors and patterns to choose from. I have myself white-stained single-strip ash parquet on a feature wall in the stairs and behind radiators.
White V-joint panel in the widest dimension might work, other narrower or with greater accent in the seams might look like a sauna.
