Hello, I will be pouring a slab for a future "pool house" measuring 2.5x5.0 meters. My plan is to drain this slab and to cast some form of insulation into the slab. I'm thinking of having the "finished floor" about 100 mm above the surrounding ground level. How much insulation should I put in the slab? and can I/should I place it below ground level? For example, if I want 200 mm insulation and only want the "finished floor" at 100 mm level, I would have to place it below ground level. And maybe that's not a problem? But would like to check with your experiences? My plan is then to build the rest of the house in timber. I considered building it with leca blocks but think wood would look better and be easier to work with. How about insulation for the walls and roof? If I insulate, should I then keep the house heated during the winter to avoid problems with mold, etc.? or is it okay to keep it "cold" and heat it occasionally? The roof will be a simple "felt-covered" one with a slope of 1:8 about 7 degrees. Any thoughts on how to insulate such a space? I want to be able to heat it even during winter but not be forced to. I am considering direct electric heating as the heat source.
