Hi!

I'm interested in building a deck for our enclosed balcony but have a problem with how thick it can be. The height to the door is at its minimum only 34mm exactly. This is when you've just opened the door, then the height gradually increases to about 50mm at the highest point when the door is open 90 degrees from the wall. I would prefer not to make any "opening" in the deck where the door can move freely, so I'm thinking I'll have to base it on 34mm simply. What are your ideas about this? Choice of wood, joists, etc.? Will such a thin deck be possible to be level so it doesn't warp? The balcony is enclosed and thus protected from the weather and wind.

Can't you just lay ready-made tiles, they usually are quite thin. An example. [link]
Yes, that's definitely an option! However, I'm keen on building something myself. I thought it looked so nice when I helped a friend build their decking.
