I have a LARGE area with ground elder, nettles, thistles, and other bits and pieces. Everyone says to use ground cover, but light comes through tarps and black plastic bags... gosh, so many are needed...

BUT maybe someone here in construction knows of some other black plastic, like for example used in another industry than gardening? Preferably quite thick, preferably with substantial dimensions.

I would be so terribly happy!!!

a dust cloth should do....

Sounds expensive with a dust cloth... can't you use geotextile/weed cloth?

Or if you want to use plastic, there's this one:

Then it takes a few years for the goutweed roots to die so they don't come back.
The problem with them is that they let through UV light, otherwise a good thought 😉

Folded newspapers placed overlapping or cardboard boxes work well to block out the light. Arbitrary plastic on top to anchor the whole thing.

Put sand or soil over the plastic to reduce the risk of light through the plastic. Let it sit for at least 2 years if you have kirskål.
