Hello.
We are in the midst of a major renovation of our basement. The plan is to open up a rather large archway, about 1½ meters wide, in a load-bearing wall.
The work itself will not be an issue.
But what I'm a bit unsure about is whether I need to report it somewhere since the wall is load-bearing. The house won't look like it does in the plans?

I would be very grateful for your help.

Yes, you "have to". At least a building notification. Check with the local building committee what they require of you. Or build anyway....:)

Aside from the formalities regarding building permits/building notifications, I assume that you understand what it means construction-wise and structurally to tear down a load-bearing wall in the basement. If I was sure there were no technical issues, I must admit that personally, I wouldn't spend too much time on the formalities...
