Hello!

I am in the process of tearing down a drywall that separated the hall and kitchen. The empty space visible in the pictures is from previous closets that have been there since the house was built in the mid-70s.

I want to proceed with the project but would like to consult before doing so.
The remaining studs in the pictures, 45x45, do they serve any function, or were they solely for mounting the drywall?
Can I tear them down, or do I need to re-stud before opening up further?

I have taken pictures of the sides, ceiling, and floor.

Thank you in advance!

Do you have any blueprints of the house?

Hello and thanks for the reply!

No, I'm still searching for these but no success yet. I'll keep checking.

As mentioned. It's only the 45x45 studs we had planned to remove. To enable a portal.
It mostly looks like the studs are attached to the cross beams which the kitchen ceiling has been nailed into.

Found some older drawings.

45x45 studs are normally never load-bearing. However, they can have a stiffening effect, but only with sheet material, which you have already removed... The drawing shows that it is some form of prefab house, unfortunately, the resolution is too poor to see anything clearly.
