Replace part of floorboard, demolish wall.

I accidentally turned off the freezer and realized it when the floor was wet... I have glued plastic flooring, which had come loose a bit. I pulled on it to see how far the water had penetrated, and it quickly became clear that it wasn't the first time; there was quite a bit of older damage, black with mold both in the flooring and the board, and it didn't smell like raspberries. I have opened up a small hole, and the underside of the board and insulation look okay with what I've done so far.

My plan was to remove what had visible moisture on it. Here, it became a bit more difficult than I had hoped. The board has a seam under the wall, and it's clearly water-damaged there as well, now dry, but it's porous when you scrape it.

I'm thinking the wall also needs to be removed to access the board. This would also be an opportunity to see if the moisture has spread to the other board. I guess the boards are glued to the joists; they were when we redid the bathroom.

Am I thinking wrong?

I realize there's a big chance I'll give up and buy my way out of the problem But I hope some knowledge remains from when my husband and I built a second house. Unfortunately, he's not around to help anymore.

It sounds like damage that the insurance might partially cover. Have you been in contact with the insurance company?
They usually want to send someone out for inspection before you start tearing things down too much.
