Hi! I'm planning an extra room in the basement and want to tear down a wall to make the room a bit larger. Please correct me if I'm wrong. The dotted line is the beam structure, and the wall I want to tear down is circled with the red line. I believe that wall is non-load-bearing because the beam structure runs across the wall. Am I right?
The house is from 1954 and I haven't gotten hold of any drawings or floor plans.

  • Basement floor plan with storage room circled in red, wall suspected as non-load-bearing marked. Green dotted lines indicate floor joists.
Load-bearing walls generally run in the opposite direction to the trusses.

Thank you for the reply.
