I need to take down my ceiling in the garage, which is made of nailed-up chipboard.

I plan to nail them back up again and then put drywall on them to get a nice finish and better soundproofing.

How can I take down the chipboards without them breaking? Is there a good tool to pull out all the hundreds of nails?

Take a small crowbar and gently bend down the boards. Unless the nails are unusually long, you should be able to get them down relatively intact so you can nail/screw them back in place.

Assuming the first album is the hardest then.
