Hello!

I just moved into a cooperative apartment.
In one corner of the living room, I saw a "bulge" in the concrete wall above the hot water pipe between the riser and the radiator to the adjacent kitchen. The heating pipe goes through the wall into the kitchen next door. The bulge is about 10x7 cm and appears to have a screw/drill hole in the middle of it.
It sticks out 3-4 mm at most. I bought it from an estate sale, there were heavy furniture in the way at the viewing (I know you should move these), and the daughter who cleared it out didn't say anything about it.
It doesn't feel damp or anything, no bad smell.

Anyone dare to speculate on what might have happened? Maybe there's a plug inside the wall that someone tried to remove?

Regards,

Daniel

I'm betting that it's the plaster that has come off when they drilled, it usually looks like that.

Thanks for the quick response!

You probably found the right answer immediately. I removed the element protection in the kitchen and checked; the hole goes all the way through and was likely drilled from the kitchen side then. Perhaps an antenna cable was once pulled from the living room to a TV in the kitchen?

Thanks again for the answer, I feel calmer now. It wouldn't have been fun to have water damage right away!

Daniel
