Hello!

Does anyone know if it's possible to offset a roof truss in a different way than the suggestion in the picture?
Is it possible to transfer the load to adjacent roof trusses with a beam and wedges?

  • Technical drawing of a roof truss showing support beams and plywood; query on load transfer to adjacent trusses using beams and wedges.
Trusses can be supported in several ways.
Do you have more drawings? What does the truss look like today?

What type of drawings are you interested in?

A simple sketch of the trusses and some pictures.

  • Sketch of a roof truss drawn in blue ink on lined paper, demonstrating the structural design.
  • Attic space showing wooden roof trusses and insulation material, providing a view of a construction or renovation project.
  • Roof rafters in an attic space with exposed insulation and visible wiring.
What are you actually supposed to do? It looks on the drawing like you're going to cut off half of the truss, then build a new facade or? What is the beam with pillars on the drawing that lies over the top chord?
There are some arrows where you've erased the info.
Is that the only construction drawing you've received? Is it one or several trusses that need to be altered?
What is it that you're not satisfied with in the proposal?

I want to cut half of the truss to free up more space in the loft.
It's a truss that I want to modify.
As it is today, part of the old roof still remains in the loft.
The construction drawings are not relevant anymore as they were done with the idea that I would do a roof lift that never materialized.
There was nothing wrong with the proposal, but it became far too costly.
