I am planning to build a pantry for dry goods and more under our inner staircase. It feels like an unused and good space for this.
I'm turning to the experts here for some tips on good and suitable material choices. I am attaching pictures and listing some questions below.
1. I'm thinking of enclosing the space between the steps. Here, I want the "cover side/board" that seals off the space to match the existing step as closely as possible. I am happy to receive tips on both material choices and methods. See the picture to understand which space I mean.
2. For the larger "cover sides/boards," I am also pondering which material will be easiest and look best with the existing structure.
3. I am also considering a door at the front (to the left of the staircase). Material choices and tips on methods are welcome.
Fun project. Wood is the material you are looking for.
Risers: Replace existing risers with a board that covers. Should work with 250x34 or parts of laminated shelf boards. Use a 28x28 strip to screw from the underside. (Or reuse the one currently in place).
I would frame the door and surrounding walls with 45x45. I would cover them with vertical beadboard and also make a door out of vertical beadboard. Place a vent by the door and one to the right of the stairs.

Thanks. Yes, I had thought of wood and would like to make it look as similar as possible to the existing steps. Laminated wood shelving is not a bad idea. I also like the idea mentioned below with thinner pine plywood.
What type of lumber did you have in mind with dimensions 250x34?
One thing is the framework of the cabinet. It can be made of any building material (OSB, simple plywood, studs.) Then the surface coating. There are nice plywood, tongue and groove wood, and other materials for surface coating.
