Hello!

I have a newly built house and now want to lay a path around it. The existing base is currently 0-60 mm crushed rock with a 5-20 cm thick layer of gravel on it.

My question now is whether I need to remove the gravel layer to apply 0-20 mm crushed rock about 10-15 cm thick, or can I lay it directly on the gravel?

Since the gravel can't be compacted because it doesn't contain any fine fractions, could this affect the load-bearing capacity?

The path will consist of slabs that are 350 x 350 x 40 mm and is intended for foot traffic, but I still want it to be as good as possible.

Can the bed be reinforced with concrete so that the gravel bed doesn't give way at the edges?

Best regards,
