Substrate for laying new tile floor
Hello!
I have an existing tiled floor that I plan to replace. The old tiled floor is laid on a vinyl flooring, which is probably the one that was there since the house was new. How do I best prepare to lay new tiles? I assume that the old vinyl flooring will be quite damaged when I remove the old tiled floor. Laying the new tile floor directly on the chipboard doesn't feel quite right either. What is the usual procedure?

Yes ok!
It's in the hallway that we're planning to change. The tricky part is that if we are to lay gypsum board, the floor level will rise, which is not desirable. How thick is the usual layer of self-leveling concrete? What do you think about laying a new vinyl floor and then placing tiles on top of it like it was done before, is that a no-no?
