Subfloor for decking on a balcony?

Hi,

I'm planning to build a decking floor on the balcony (rental apartment), but I'm considering whether I should have some protection underneath. It's a concrete slab.
I've searched quite a bit and can't find anything concrete. I suspect this isn't necessary, but I'm thinking if the floor is going to be oiled, etc., the concrete slab won't look as nice afterwards.

Does anyone have any recommendations?
