Hello! I've searched around a bit but haven't found the right information about wood warping when stored indoors.
I'm going to lay floor joists on a concrete floor. 45x95 joists, 4.5 m, SCA purchased from Byggmax a week ago and will be used in about a week. I'm storing them lying on the floor on some IKEA bags and cardboard. The space is a basement, about 18 degrees warm, approximately 55-60% RH now during the summer depending on the weather outside. Always dark and cool, no direct sunlight in the space. The joists are lying in the room where they will be used.
I got a little worried when I started reading about wood warping, I don't know much about it. Is there any risk for this here?
Thanks! Hmm, then the question is whether I should install the floor joists first and lay the flooring on that and then paint the walls and ceiling. What do you think about that?
As long as you don't intend to lay a massive wooden floor, it seems more sensible to raise the floor and lay chipboard first. Then you don't have to worry.
If you bundle it with a couple of tie-down straps, it should hold up pretty well. I assume you're going to bolt it into the concrete floor anyway, so it doesn't matter if one or two studs are a couple of centimeters askew.
