Hi, a little question regarding a staircase. Is it possible to create a reasonable staircase in this space, or will it just end up being a ladder? I have made a simple sketch. Currently, there is a spiral staircase that is 450mm wide, which feels narrow and awkward for carrying things. Anyone with knowledge about staircases is welcome to suggest ideas.
Hard to see what you mean. But I don't think you mean the stairs are 45cm wide?
Floor plan upstairs and downstairs. Measurements from floor to floor. Measurements of the area you can spare on the lower floor. Then I can give you an answer.

Do you see the attached pdf? There you will find the measurements and an image.T Tompafix said:
I'm sorry, but I don't quite understand your drawing.ag72 said:
I assume floor to floor is 3000mm. Is it the stair opening width that is 1170mm?
Where is this door located in relation to everything?
To be able to suggest a staircase, more information is needed. For example, what space can be utilized on the ground floor and where can the stairs emerge on the upper floor. You can see this very well on the floor plan.
Check if this sketch works
Now I'm with you. I don't think you can bevel the corner. There should be rafters lying there on which the stair tower rests. At first, I thought you had an upper floor, hence my confusion
To get a better staircase, a much larger space will be needed. A straight staircase in the current hole would be extremely steep. About a 60-degree slope at best, and a 45-degree is already considered a steep staircase.

A potential improvement might possibly be a new handrail that follows the shape of the spiral staircase. I can imagine that the knobs might be in the way and having a handrail that goes straight when the staircase curves is not the best.
