Hello!

After a long summer during which I removed a 100m2 concrete slab and dug 50cm underneath, it's finally time to frame new walls on the new slab...

I'm using an air gap and steel studs against the outer wall, but I've never worked with steel studs before—it's not a favorite so far.

How do I resolve the area under the windows? See picture; I need to put in a stud or track under the window to insert studs at cc60?

The steel studs have a bent edge, so you can't easily insert a stud there, right? Should I try to install a track, like I have on the ceiling and floor, or should I try to cut away the bent part to fit in a stud?

Cut an extension that you have in the ceiling and floor about 10 cm longer than the distance between the window studs. Then cut only the sides of the extension about 5 cm from the edges on both sides so the distance between the cuts is the same as the distance between the studs. Then fold up the edges and fasten the extension with the opening facing downwards. You can then insert a stud if needed.

I usually insert a wall/ceiling track. Cut it to a length so it spans across the vertical studs and then take a straight tin snip and cut the "ceiling" of the track as deep as the vertical studs are wide so you get a tab. Then fold the tab upward so you can screw the tab and one side of the crosspiece... Then you can easily insert another vertical track directly under the window.
