I'm looking for a staircase with minimalist stringers and I'm wondering if it would work as I've envisioned.
I haven't seen pictures of this solution, which makes me feel there might be a significant known issue.

Let's see if I can describe this with words.

A straight staircase (or rather two straight staircases since there's a landing in between).
The steps are normal wooden steps.
Stringers made of steel plate instead of wood. About 6mm (more?), Width roughly half of a classic wooden stringer.
Supports for the steps welded to the stringer and the steps screwed/other solution to these.

I would then get much more air. The steps would protrude both at the front and back relative to the stringer since it is narrower than normal. That is, the welded support is not the full length of the step.

Does this work? With my complete lack of knowledge in this area, I could imagine that it might be noisy due to the step fastening construction and that there might be a risk of the staircase swaying sideways.

I am building this outdoor staircase. It can surely be modded for your purpose. Outdoor staircase project with metal railings and wooden steps, shown as a digital model.

It definitely resembles what I'm looking for.
Will it be completely stable?
My experience with outdoor staircases is that they often feel a bit shaky. You might not have quite the same requirements as for an indoor staircase.

I think it will be completely stable. The vangstyckena are made of 100 mm u-beams. I initially considered using only 6 mm steel plates, which I have seen in indoor constructions. But we'll see. The staircase is under construction now, so it's too late to make significant changes.

If you remember, feel free to report how it turned out.
