Hello!
We have a number of 220 x 45 beams in construction quality leftover from our extension. I'm also a happy owner of a Festool plunge saw with a rail.
Now we're planning to build a ceiling structure where 95 x 45 is sufficient in dimension.
Is it worth the trouble to cut the beams we already have with the saw or is it better to buy new ones and save the wider ones for potential future needs? What would you do? How challenging is it to saw 45 mm along the grain with such a saw?

I split some 45*225 to 45*195 last weekend with the ts55. It's not super fast but it works. I used the included 48 tooth blade. If you look on the inside of the lid in the systainer, there are pictures of different accessories including a coarse blade intended for ripping (if I remember correctly)
