Hello!
I'm about to start filling the living room before painting, and will first repair the worst cracks and drill holes with house patch.

However, I discovered there is a wooden panel or whatever you want to call it, behind the wallpaper and ceiling molding (which was above it before). I am aware that wood can move a bit based on humidity and temperature differences(?)

Is it feasible to fill gaps between the wooden boards with house patch, or should I do it differently there? I really don't want cracks to appear later.

Thanks in advance,
A happy amateur

  • Wood panel gap above a window frame, with visible plaster and ceiling, in preparation for filling before painting the living room.
  • Exposed wooden panel with gaps between boards and drywall, showing drilled holes; context of filling gaps before painting a living room.
  • Torn wallpaper revealing wooden panel behind, showing gaps and cracks to be repaired before painting.
The joints will crack with filler. Unfortunately, you will have to put renovation gypsum over the joint.

Okay, thanks for the quick response! Does it have to be renovation plaster or can Casco Husfix (which is cement-based) do the job?

Maybe can agree with husfix, maybe not...

Absolutely do not fill gaps between wooden boards. Wood moves with humidity and must be able to do so. Cover over psss with drywall with paper tape (not fiberglass mesh) and filler, or cover with paper strips as done with paper-stretched walls and ceilings.
