Hello!

What do you consider the best material and method for achieving a nice transition from a brick wall to a plaster wall?

I have currently filled gaps with foam sealant to seal and make it less "hollow," but what do you recommend after that?

  • Drywall meets brick wall with foam sealant filling gaps between them.
  • Transition between brick and drywall filled with expanding foam for insulation.

I don't have a good answer for you, but I'm also curious about the question. I'm going to make the same type of connection against a brick wall, both in the form of plaster ceiling against the wall and plaster wall against the chimney.

I have placed my plasterboards somewhat closer to the brick wall, and my plan is to bevel the plaster edge with a knife and then seal with some type of elastic paintable sealant. Where the gaps are larger, maybe you first have to build up with some type of plaster compound?

Since you have such a large crack, I would fill it with plaster and then paint once, and after that use a construction sealant with high elastic properties.

Hello!

After I filled with foam sealant, I added Kalkbruk that I had used for the brick wall and let it fill in as much as possible, then I applied fine filler on top of it.

The result was quite good, although it took a little while to dry before I could apply filler again.
