I have probably searched through every store and online shop by now.
Is there anyone on this forum who knows where I can find a coupling nut/sleeve nut or whatever it's called? (I have searched for many variations of names)

It needs to be m8, 35mm, stainless. A bit more heavy-duty than for furniture use. (preferably hex) rounded on both ends.
It should be for a trailer, where I need to be able to tighten from both sides but it must not protrude at all, hence rounded.

  • A stainless steel connecting nut with a hex socket and rounded ends, used for securing from both sides without protruding, ideal for a trailer.
  • Stainless steel connector bolts with hex sockets, featuring rounded ends; suitable for heavy-duty applications like trailers.
Such are not exactly standard goods.

No, and therefore difficult to find.

Are you thinking of a regular coupling nut perhaps? They're available here and there.

A hexagonal coupling nut, metal finish, used for connecting threaded rods or bolts.

Yes, but my point is that all fasteners you come across when screwing aren't standard items but made for something specific and not at all picked from a catalog. If the need is a few thousand, it's not that expensive to start something with a drawing as the basis. So what you're looking for or have seen somewhere may only exist as an "original part." I've only seen such within furniture and M6 as mentioned.......But I also have a vague memory of something coarser.....Have you gone through all of Ikea's boxes?

I've considered these as a kind of emergency solution.
The old ones I unscrewed (read: broke) are sleeve on one end + bolt on the other. So only two parts. The hole is completely round so these angular ones would be an emergency solution.

Same article as you have pictured in your post
The material is unfortunately too weak. These for furniture I know well and have at home.

There are round (cylindrical) ones available at hardware stores like Hornbach and Bauhaus.

I was just at Bauhaus and got a no.
Hornbach doesn't exist here, and nothing comes up when I search on their website.

No, they're in the special assortment which they at least have in Gothenburg. I bought such extension nuts last week to create an internal fastener against a threaded rod embedded in concrete.

A steel extension nut, 8x40mm, used as an internal fastener for a threaded rod embedded in concrete.

Thanks!
I have emailed a couple of trailer experts, so if they can't help me, I will order one of these :)

They also seem to be called "gänghylsa."
