Hello!

I have a small problem. We have a chimney breast that is leaking between the roof and floor (downstairs/upstairs) and is impossible to plaster without tearing up most of it. We currently have an open fireplace in which I will install an insert. If I use chimney lining, I must chisel up the chimney breast to cast a crown around the pipe from the insert. If I choose to use a pipe instead with a transition coupling to the insert pipe, do I then avoid having to seal the hole around it? I am aware that you need to create a stop for the pellets that are supposed to be around the pipe, but it doesn't need to be smoke-tight. I hope you understand what I mean. All tips and ideas are welcome. Also, other ways to solve my leakage problem.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards, Pelle
