Hello. Yesterday, I found a pair of sliding doors on Blocket. The idea is to build a sliding door wall in the laundry room, which will hide the central vacuum, underfloor heating distributor, and exhaust air heat pump. The ceiling height is 2.50 m. The sliding doors are 2.40 m high, including floor and ceiling rail. So I thought of installing a beam in the gypsum ceiling above the sliding doors, which I will lower by about 10 cm to get the correct height. Now to my question, I know there is a lot of electricity and water above this ceiling. How would you attach a beam to the gypsum ceiling? Would you use steel or wood beams? Thanks in advance.

I had attached them in the simplest way, using the material that I find easiest to work with and that becomes stable enough for sliding doors. Perhaps an extension in sheet metal towards the ceiling as it is easier to attach through a thin sheet metal to a thick beam - Then you can finish with a wooden beam in the extension and adjust it for height so that it is straight. The extensions are usually 55mm high and a wooden beam 45mm, adjust it up so you have space for drywall in between, so you have an adjustable solution, simply put.
The most important thing in your situation is probably not the choice of material but to NOT screw into either electricity or water...

I would then just attach to the walls for the beam across the room and then "kortlingar" towards the rear wall. The beam for the sliding door doesn't really need to hold any weight, just the outward/inward movements, which are then absorbed by the kortlingar. That way, you don't need to attach anything to the ceiling at all... If you place a 45x95 beam, you just need to paint it and apply a line of latex at the top...

Note! First check if the ceiling/floor is straight!!!
I installed sliding doors once, and there was a 14 mm height difference between the ends, so the doors jammed roughly in the middle when I tried closing them for the first time...
