I have a house from 1970 where the end grain on the panel (cut straight) has never been painted. Only now has the facade started to deteriorate.
When I replace the facade, I probably won't worry about whether it should be cut at an angle or not,
if I paint the end grain, the facade will likely outlive me anyway...
Pressure treated?

No.

Anyhow, ours is not slant cut and will therefore remain so. Meaning straight. Hope to report back in seven-eight years.?
Well then. It's time to report back now! ;-D

Is it still 17 degrees that's the standard? :D Now a few years have passed, so it's time to evaluate the results.

One disadvantage of miter cutting is that the area of exposed end grain becomes larger.

The runoff improves.

Anyone who has access to AMA Hus if there is any recommendation on execution?

Just repainted the entire house after 15-18 years and can confirm that 17 is the perfect angle.

I think I'll go against the grain and opt for a straight panel finish. Then painted in linseed oil paint boosted with a double dose of benzalkonium chloride. I'm aiming for the environmental award 2021.

go with 15 degrees. Let the ends stand at least a few hours in base oil.

How much do you mix in the paint? Does it work to mix it in acrylate paints? I have a bottle...

I have no experience for longer than about 6 years, but there the paint is like new. It is acrylic. According to the instructions, use 2.5ml/liter of paint. I use double that.

Edit: the reason for the double dose is that it can be difficult to mix evenly. I usually use a children's medicine syringe. Drop it in while I mix.
