Size of space for e.g. electrical panel?
We are working on our house plan, can someone help us with the following questions:
When we do the drawing, how much space is required for:
- Electrical panel
- Central vacuum
- Control of underfloor heating (perhaps done at the electrical panel?)
- Alarm (perhaps done at the electrical panel?)
- We wish to control outdoor lighting and certain indoor fixtures from a location at the entrance, space requirements for that?
- Is a central unit needed for controlling ventilation? Where is it placed?
- Anything else we have missed?
We haven't chosen heating yet, but if we choose the following, how much space is required indoors for control?
- Heat pump
- District heating
- Geothermal heating

Our equipment is modern and has approximate dimensions of: 1) Set aside width 80 cm, height 80/100cm and depth 30cm 2) Normally large 40*120*40cm 3) don't know 4) normally 40*40*8cm is enough 5) 20*20*5cm 6) We have this at the entrance to the living room because it normally has a temperature sensor inside and if placed by the exit/entrance, it can give incorrect temperature. If I understood everything correctly, you're going to build a new house from scratch?
I would choose to make an extra room in, for example, the basement, about 15 sqm (depending on how big the house will be). There you can place all the electronics, central unit, controls with relays for time/dusk, heating equipment for the house, water tank, etc.
I would also build a bus system in the house. This means running all the feeds (electrical wires) down to the central unit located in the extra room. So you run one feed per wall socket and lamp socket, etc. Don't do it like a typical installation where you, for example, connect several wall sockets and some lighting that is in the same room. This allows you to very easily decide if, for example, you want the lights in the living room to turn on/off at the same time as the light in the kitchen with, for example, a switch by the front door, then this is no problem. Just a few quick changes in the central unit! You also place the main unit for the alarm system here.
Of course, this costs a bit more than a regular installation because you need to embed more conduits and it requires a bit more cabling and such, but I would absolutely do it!
If you, for example, are going to have waterborne loops in all rooms, then just run the loops down to the room in the basement and use it as the house's starting point! This room will become the heart of the house!
Think about it before you make any decisions!!

Unfortunately, the situation today doesn't look like we'll have a basement, so we probably can't allocate a whole room for this. Hopefully, it can be solved in some way anyway...
But it might not be so bad, feels pretty hi-tech! I've read about someone who could even control lawn watering via the computer... but it's probably not for us ordinary "svenssons"...
