Hi,

I have asked concrete suppliers, among others, about how long I should wait before shooting nails to attach the slab form (Planja combideck) to newly cast walls. Does anyone have any guidelines on how long the concrete should rest before I begin fastening the form to it?

A couple of three weeks I would guess, but someone should be able to give a better answer

What type of concrete did you use? The day after shouldn't be any problem during the summer.

I would also have said the day after if it was to attach wall form to arch. But not arch form against newly cast wall.

When shooting into concrete, the nail pushes the concrete aside, which in turn presses back against the nail, and it is the friction that holds the nail in place. Therefore, it is important that the concrete has properly set to ensure the fastening's strength. I would have waited a week (depending on circumstances, type of concrete, etc.) if it is a vaulted form.

If it is just to temporarily fasten something without bearing weight, for example, you can often go the next day.

Of course, the sheet metal should be secure, but it's placed on the wall, so it's really just to keep it in place. It would have been a bit more demanding if something were to be hung on the wall.

The day after on FM, it should be possible to drive in regular nails with a hammer.
With a bolt gun, it is possible to shoot nails into fully cured concrete (like several years).
