I'm going to install shingles on a roof with a 30-degree slope. It's not very steep and I'm definitely not afraid of heights.

But when I put on the roof and the underlayment, I had battens to support myself on. I filled in the screw holes with asphalt adhesive.

How is it to lay the shingles, which should be laid from the bottom up? Is it perhaps durable enough and has such high friction that it feels stable to crawl around on the roof?

Any tips from those of you who have installed shingles on 30-degree roofs or steeper?

Answer YES. Very good grip to sit or stand on it.

I have laid it on a 24-degree slope, and then there were no problems.

You can also use a roof truss ladder, which hangs over the ridge. I cobbled one together when I laid the underlayment.

Thanks. I also thought about a roof truss ladder but thought it would be tricky to put the shingle in place without moving the ladder around.
