Sheet Metal Work - Should It Look Like This?
Looking forward to seeing how it turns out once they've fixed it and done it right.J Joakim88 said:For those who are curious. Here is the fixture today. The company was contacted via email with pictures over the weekend and the owner was called this morning. 100 excuses but not a single apology. But now they've torn down the fixture and are starting over from scratch. According to what has been promised, it will be finished with a plaster list according to AMA, round fold, no mounting screws through the fixture edges flush and just done more neatly. I hope they can deliver.
Comments regarding the scaffolding are not desired as I know it is not "approved." It is our private one and has so far in the work been used only for private purposes. The sheet metal workers who are here have been asked if it is okay for them to work from or if we can improve/supplement it, to which they have said no.

That could have been done just as well for free with the help of byggahus.
When you hire professionals, the idea is that it should be better than if you did it yourself
But it's good that they take their responsibility. Now they just need to deliver

Unnecessary comment when you don't know. Even if it's a common "funny comment" and probably a common mistake that people choose the cheapest quote. We contacted 6 companies. Only 2 even bothered to respond and then came out to look at the job. Of these 2, only 1 (!) even provided a quote. As a customer, you have no chance to compare and you have no choice when the people in the industry are so nonchalant that they can't even bother to respond.J Johan Sahlin said:
So yes, very funny comment that doesn't even hold true.
And no, it's also not labor from outside. It's a Swedish, local, company. All employees are presented on the website, and all are fair-skinned and have Swedish names (if that even matters
Get your facts straight before you criticize a person who, in a dependent position, has been subjected to unserious "craftsmen."
I became curious, have they been there today and does it look better?
They have been here today. However, I don't think they're finished with the chimney yet. What is there now looks better than before anyway. I'll post a picture tomorrow of the finished result. We'll have to hope that those who are more knowledgeable in the field here can say whether it's okay or not.S Simonstahl said:

So yeah, very funny comment that isn't even true.
And no, it's not external labor either. It's a Swedish, local, company. All employees are presented on the website and all are fair-skinned and have Swedish names (if that would have any significance) I've talked to the guy who is here working and he's also presented on the website.

I know how hard it is to get hold of a roofer, I waited for a year before they could come.
Glad to hear that what they did today looks better.
It wasn't me who mentioned Poles, but it could have been a self-taught craftsman.
Experienced a few of those when we bought the house that the realtor recommended.
They installed two exterior doors in the worst possible way.
I think people hire professionals because they don't have the time or desire. A motivated homeowner without time pressure can often do just as good a job as a professional, but not everyone wants or can learn everything and get all the tools, so it's quite common to contract out things like roofing metalwork and waterproof flooring, as it becomes costly to get all the tools for single jobs on one's own property.Bananskalare said:
Sorry that you have encountered that. And excuse my extremely long response to your comment. But that type of comment is quite common. And as a customer, you rely on the craftsman, whether they are expensive or cheap. It's very unfortunate when you trust someone and they try to cheat you or are not competent enough to do a job they have promised.J Johan Sahlin said:I apologize, it was not my intention to hurt you. You're certainly right that you can absolutely do the job better. It was more about showing a minimum standard. In relation to what the professionals perform. I really hope that the company takes responsibility and rectifies everything according to the rules of the art. I really hope so for ts's sake, primarily, but also to see a company take responsibility and do the right thing.F fribygg said:I think you hire professionals because you don't have the time or inclination yourself.
